Petition against plans to introduce continuous motor insurance and tax in Ireland.

Last week Britain introduced a law making it an offence to own an uninsured vehicle even if kept in a garage or permanently parked up. Until now it had only been an offence to drive an uninsured vehicle. A spokesman for the Irish Department of Transport said that "the department was looking at introducing a similar change." Currently under Irish law, motorists are permitted to temporarily register a vehicle as being off the road and therefore not requiring tax or insurance.
With the state of the economy and price of petrol at the moment, making it compulsory for everyone to have every car they own taxed and insured would be a huge extra burden for some. We would appreciate if the government did not put anymore pressure on ordinary people who need their cars for work, etc.
If measures are brought forward to introduce continuous motor insurance and tax we will not sit back and let this happen. We will protest, we will setup road-blocks and cause disruption at strategic points, ports, airports, city centres, etc. We will make the government realise that we can't be coerced any longer.
