The cost of those equipments (the highest on the plasma's TV market) extends the lifespan of such products to such an extent that requires a change of Pioneer's perspective, related to customer support and customer satisfaction.
In a digital world, computers, mobile phones, cameras, just to mention of few, are supported and updated for years, since theyr first release.
This is happening also in the TV market: some companies (Pioneer's competitors) are delivering updates for theyr TV owners, and some others will do, soon.
It should be Pioneer's duty to be providing customers who have purchased one of TV models, the ability to upgrade the products firmware, in some cases adding new features and benefits, through software they can download in the convenience of their own homes, enableing consumers to access future technologies and updates not yet available or on the market.
If Pioneer really thinks it self as a company committed to providing innovation and value, it should consider seriously the extension of the life of theyr TV products.
We would like Pioneer to fully recognize the established facts described above and come up with a solution to remedy the current situation so that customers will benefit by further improving upon the technology and features, even after purchase.
