PLEASE STOP THE REVISED REDISTRICTING PLAN ["PLAN B"]

The North Penn School Districts [NPSD] administration is attempting to push through an incomplete revised redistricting plan [Plan B]. Plan B is incomplete. The administration did not consider middle school boundaries when developing the second redistricting plan. As a result, 271 of the 540 students being redistricted will go to a middle school that is different from the rest of his/her elementary class. This plan triples the number of split schools [the number of schools where children are forced to split, or redistrict, into different middle schools]. In addition to being incomplete, Plan B unnecessarily redistricts students from one school to another. Plan B is creating a domino effect because it moves students, throughout every school in the district, from one school to another instead of only populating underutilized schools with students from neighboring overpopulated schools.
Unless stopped, Plan B will continue to unnecessarily disrupt elementary and middle school students lives for years to come.
The Concerned Parents of NPSD believe this plan should be stopped when the board reviews it on May 12th, 2005. We have studied Plan B carefully and believe Plan B will reduce the quality of education in NPSD. As concerned parents, we are not against redistricting and we are not against change. We believe redistricting, building new facilities, closing others, etc., are essential to providing a high quality education. It is our belief the School Board should not approve this plan on May 12th. Instead, we believe the school board should ask the administration to develop a comprehensive redistricting plan that is complete and only affects the absolute minimum number of students necessary!
If you are concerned about an incomplete plan that does not address the middle school boundaries, if you are concerned about the needless dominoing of students from school to school, if you are concerned about the unnecessary disruption of elementary and middle schools lives PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION! We will deliver this petition and its signatures to the school board on May 12th.
Thank you for your time and please plan on attending the May 12th School Board meeting. Your voice counts!
Thank you, The Concerned Parents of NPSD.
