Power Metal is glorious and truly rules.

It is time for the music enthuiasts of America to stand up and recognize what the rest of the world knows as a plain and honest truth: that Power Metal, otherwise catagorized as Melodic Metal, Traditional Heavy Metal, NeoClassical Heavy Metal, Symphonic Metal, or Hollywood Metal, is a truly glorious form of expression and, as a genre distinction, officially rules.

Power Metal combines the inherent heaviness and excitement of all forms of Metal with many brilliant advances in modern musical expression that are sorely underrepresented in popular music today. Firstly, it utilizes highly trained musicians and vocalists to create an exciting and riveting performance. This allows for a great range of tempos, scales, and both grandiose and sparse arrangements, so that the full range of human emotion and experience can be expressed.

Power Metal has historically accepted all emotional states and viewpoints, as opposed to a strict limit of themes to anger, sadness, depression, and hatred. While those emotions are certainly present, positive emotions such as glory, wonder, true love, lust, devotion, friendship, and mystery are equally present. Also, intellectual curiosity, a wide range of philosophy, and even universal physics and origins are present lyrically. The operatic format of many Power Metal albums provides a rich story to follow and supplement the ample emotional content of the musical composition.

Some dismiss Power Metal as "cheesy" for its fantasy, operatic, and science fiction themes and soaring, upbeat melodies. But we, the undersigned, agree that it is far cheesier to stick to one cliched emotional theme and sound, rather than explore the full range of music. Besides, a little cheese never hurt anyone.

As an interviewer, I know that few Power Metal bands tour America because they fear an unresponsive audience and lack of coverage and attendance. Bands like Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian, Kamelot, Rhapsody, and so many others attain millions of sales worldwide and chart positions in Europe and Japan, but have little to no recognition in the United States aside from a small but loyal underground fanbase that uses the internet and imported magazines to track their favorite bands.

Simply put, Power Metal rules, and this must be acknowledged.

This petition does not assert Power Metal's dominance over any subgenre specialization of Metal, nor any other kind of music. Power Metal simply rules.

Also, this petition recognizes legendary actor Christopher Lee (Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, The Man with the Golden Gun) as the oldest and coolest supporter of Power Metal, growing to love Power Metal in his 80's and contributing as a vocalist, narrator, and touring performer to the bands Rhapsody and Manowar.
