We got to know that the teacher incised injuries to 10 children who had to be admitted to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital. We are shocked at the atrocity and think that the following ought to be done.
1. We want an unbiased investigation into this matter.
2. We want the authorities to fix criminal liability on the accused, sending out a message that acts as a clear deterrence in the future.
3. We want the authorities to enact a law which ensures that no matter what, why or how, no student should be touched against his or her wishes.
4. We want the authorities to ensure that all 10 students affected in this incident are healed physically as well as mentally, and they get a learning environment that will ensure the same.
5. We want the authorities to appoint an enquiry committee which will go to all MCD schools to see if using physical torture on students is prevalent.
6. We want the authorities to re-look into the capacity building training sessions of teachers and see if these sessions equip the teacher to handle student issues without using physical torture.
7. We want the authorities to assess the workloads of teachers and see if their stress levels cause them to act unreasonably.
Sincerely,
The undersigned
