Principal Tenure for Long-time Freeport Educator Ernie Kight

Ernie Kight has been a staple in the Freeport Public School system for over 30 years. From an educator to an administrator, he has touched the lives of countless individuals as he tirelessly taught, guided and lovingly mentored every student that crossed his path. For all of us, Mr. Kight has been a beacon of hope and the exemplar of education.
Mr. Kight was a tenured teacher, however, once named Principal, he technically moved into a new position that requires a tenure review after three years. Including the one year Mr. Kight spent as Interim Principal, he has now served in that capacity for four years.
To not offer this man tenure is a disservice to not only the students of Freeport Public Schools but to the entire Incorporated Village of Freeport. We are signing this petition in support of Mr. Ernie Kight receiving tenure as Principal of Freeport High School, a role he absolutely deserves.
