Public Prayer

We are a group of many...Christian men and women who are taking a stand for prayer. Many of us grew up with prayer in our shcools, at sporting events, and in public forums. Prayer was then removed from the public's eye, due in part to the civil rights movement.
In the face of a national tragedy prayer has been "allowed" back into society. Americans across the nation have been implored to pray: for the victims who lost their lives, the families who were left behind, and our nation as a whole. Government officials-from President Bush, to Secretary of State, to the mayor of New York City-by way of national television have voiced this request: we have been summoned to pray!
Had we covered our nation in prayer, had we fallen on our face before the altar of God, had we asked for God's protection beforehand; maybe at this time we would be praying for God's continued defense against those who deem oppression against us. If prayer was called upon for this tragedy, why not let it be called upon for continued guidance and protection?
We refuse to be silenced! We choose,instead, to humble ourselves before Almighty God in prayer.
We want and request for prayer to be reinstated in our schools, at sporting events and in public forums; not to be hidden,but openly allowed to pray!
It's time, Christians, to take back the freedom of prayer: for the ones who fought for that right, for the ones who live in this land, and for the God who died for it.
