Reduce Ticket Prices for Wales Home Internationals

I feel this accurately sets up this petition which aims to ensure that ticket prices for Wales International home football matches are once again lowered to the level which they were at during Mark Hughes's reign as coach (5, 10, 15), rather than the ever rising prices being applied now (20, 25, 30).

It is my solid belief that as Mark Hughes states, larger crowds create a much more electric atmosphere, which unquestionably inspires the players to a greater extent than playing in front of a more than half empty stadium.

Groups of tickets for the home games have been sold at the beginning of the campaign at a set price, which is why prices can't now be lowered to compensate for the so far disappointing results in the qualifying campaign. Although these group tickets that have been sold are all held on database so it is techincally possible to offer a partial refund for holders of these tickets, in order to attract better crowds for the remaining games?

Let's not be so naiive to think that the crowd can't act as an extra man. Ian Walsh has aired his view on Welsh football:

"The Welsh fans have to keep their standard of support at the Millennium Stadium and this will only happen if the FAW keep ticket prices low."


The FAW is of the opinion that when the team starts playing well, that is when crowds will be attracted. Which is contrary to my, and Mark Hughes' opinion which states that if there is a crowd there in the first place, the team may well stand a better chance of performing well.

It is in no dobut that the FAW are right, Wales will attract more people when they start getting the results again. But while the team is not playing so well, crowds must still be attracted.

And so I offer this petition, by those of us who believe in the "12th man" that the crowd can be, to seek an immediate lowering of ticket prices in order to ensure that the magnificent Millennium Stadium is filled as it deserves to be, for a sight of 51,000 empty seats vs San Marino was sickening, and would surely not have happened should the tickets have been priced more realistically.
