Release a Special Retail Version of Half-Life 2 for the PC without Steam

Petition Summary:
Due to various reasons with the way Steam makes you install
and play Half-Life 2, I think Valve should release a Special
Retail version of Half-Life 2 for the PC, with no Steam or
product activation and also no need for net access to install
and play the single player portion of the game.

Petition Explanation:
Due to Half-Life 2 for the PC being exclusively available with
Steam even in the current Retail version, and Steam adding
product activation and need for internet access to install and
play a Retail single player game which has not happen before
and it made many not being able to buy that version.
So it would be very important a Half-Life 2 Special Edition
without steam to be also available in Retail so more PC Gamers
can be able to buy and play this great game.
This has nothing to do with the online delivery system and that
would remain the same, with Half-Life 2 available in Steam.
This Petition only applies exclusively to Half-Life 2 available
in the Retail market.
Also I'm not asking for the current Retail version with steam
to be removed but only to have choice and alternative to buy
Half-Life 2 in Retail without steam, or product activation or
need for internet access to install and play the single player
portion of Half-Life 2.

What I propose in this petition:
Half-Life 2 for the PC single player game, most current and
updated version available in a Retail Box edition either in CD
or DVD with no Steam, no product activation or need for internet
access to install or play the single player portion of the game.

What would be acceptable as penalty for this Special version
with no Steam:
- Pay a premium for this Special Edition which can be 5 to 10
dollars more than the current Retail edition with steam
- CD/DVD being copy-protected like most Retail PC Game titles.
- Need the CD/DVD inserted in drive to play this Special version.
- No email technical support but only access to knowledge base.
- No support for auto-updates.
- No access to any extra free content.
- No other bundled PC Game titles from Valve back catalog would
be included but only the single player portion of Half-Life 2 for
the PC.
- Have a Steam installation file present in the CD/DVD so it can
be manually installed for those wanting.

I hope with this petition we can show Valve many PC Gamers were
left out cause of Steam being present in the Retail version of
Half-Life 2 for the PC, and they can finally correct it and all
of us left out can finally buy and play Half-Life 2.
