The newly resurrected Mudcrutch recently completed a thirteen-date tour of California. I saw two of the shows. They kicked serious ass. This is why Im calling on Mudcrutch, Tom Petty, Reprise Records and the powers-that-be to resurrect the once famous Mudcrutch Farm Festival.

Mudcrutch was the toast of the town in Gainesville, FL in the early 1970s. In 1971, Tom Petty and company organized the first "Mudcrutch Farm Festival." The festival was held on a plot of land that the band named Mudcrutch Farm. Crowds came in from all over making the festival a Southern-Rock Woodstock of sorts and a great success. The second festival in 1972 drew so many people that the band was evicted from the farm. In true rock n roll form, Mudcrutch held a third festival in 1973 on the same plot of land.
The next couple of years saw Mudcrutch making the trek for fame to Los Angeles and eventually disbanding in 1975. Emerging from the wreckage was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The rest is history.

I wasnt alive in the early 1970s. However, I can only imagine the vibe, goodwill and tasty tunes that filled the air back then as Mudcrutch rocked that farm field full of hippies who drank wine and enjoyed food donated by the local co-op. With so many great music festivals out there, why not bring back one of the originals? MUDCRUTCH FARM FESTIVAL

Lord send me down a fallen angelWith a miracle to perform. Mudcrutch 2008
