Safe Streets & Safe Schools:
Protecting Our Children and Our Future
Childrens safety is a major issue for parents, teachers, school administrators and residents in the Bronx. According to the New York State Department of Health, the Bronx has the second highest level of pedestrian injury in New York State. We feel that in order for our children to learn, their environment must be made safer. Therefore, CC9 invites you to join us in a Bronx Safe Streets, Safe Schools Campaign. We want:
The New York City Department of Transportation to implement 15 miles per hour speed zones around all schools
using traffic calming devices such as speed humps to enforce safe driving speeds.
The New York City Police Department to provide adequate numbers of foot patrols and crossing guards for all schools.

La seguridad de ninos es un tema de mayor impacto de padres, maestros, administradores escolares, y residentes del Bronx. De acuerdo el Departamento de Salud del Estado de Nueva York, el Bronx tiene el segundo nivel mas alto de lesiones de peatones en el Estado de Nueva York. Sentimos que los alrededores deben ser mas seguros, para que nuestros ninos pueden aprender. CC9&10 les invita a participar en
nuestra campana del Bronx para crear Calles Seguras y Escuelas Seguras. Nosotros queremos que:
El Departamento de Transportacion de la Cuidad de Nueva York implemente zonas de 15 MPH alrededor de todas las escuelas en las calles residenciales con mecanismos para tranquilizar el trafico tales como jorobas de velocidad, para esforzar velocidades seguras.
Tambien queremos asegurarnos que
El Departamento de Policia provee suficientes guardias de cruce y patrullas policias a pie durante el despido/salida.
