Many of you will not know this, but Uefa have deicded to hold this years Champions League final in no other than, Istanbul, Turkey. Usually the venue for the final is announced publicly, but this year it will be a low key event, and obviously Uefa are hoping that if no fuss is made about it then people will not notice how much of a disgusting decision this is.
For many years the revolting acts of violence from Turkish football fans has been ignored by the footballing governing bodies, whilst taking punishment for many lesser offences, including a coin throwing incident, which although is a serious offence, it was punished quickly and swiftly whereas the violence in Turkey has time after time been ignored, excused and forgotten about.
I am not writing this as a Leeds fan, as an England fan, but as a fan of football. The incidents in Turkey have on many occasions shocked the world, and have involved many English clubs in the process.
Chelsea and Man United fans were both attacked and involved in mass brawls with Turkish football fans, and of course the deaths of two Leeds United fans, Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight, inspired a reputation within Istanbul as "Hell". Many fear Turkey, i know as a Leeds United fan that I would not step foot in Istanbul after the tragic, shocking incidents that touched the hearts of Leeds United, and football fans in general across the world.
Uefa, have failed to punish Galatasary, Fenerbache and the Turkish FA. The violence still continues today, and will continue till Uefa put a stop to it. But how far do the Turkish fans have to go before they get rightfully punished for the atrocious acts that have marred not only Turkish Football, but Football in General.
The Passion, The pride, The hunger, The determination, we all have it, we don't need to these horrendous acts of violence.
