the special needs class in scoil mhuire, clifden, was opened in 1999 in a small out door pre-fab. in sept 2000 a special needs unit was opened for students and staff. this unit is a purpose built facility including classroom, a physiotherapy/ICT room and a state of the art multi sensory room. this special needs unit has provided an inclusive education and an invaluable service for children and their families in our community.
THIS UNIT IS NOW BEING CLOSED. THERE ARE CHILDREN IN OUR COMMUNITY WHO ARE IN NEED OF THIS FACILITY. SPECIAL NEEDS IS SOMETHING THAT COULD TOUCH ALL OF OUR LIVES. IT IS A FUNDAMENTAL AND INDISPENSABLE ELEMENT OF OUR DISTRICT BOTH NOW AND IN THE FUTURE WE ARE TOLD IT IS OUT OF OUR HANDS. WE NEED YOUR HANDS TO HELP US.
