Dear Minister Tebbutt,
We the undersigned express our deep concern that the valuable facilities provided to the NSW community by the Health Education Library will be lost if the Library cannot find a new location, and is permanently closed down. This Library fulfils an essential role in preparing future teachers and social workers to provide drug, alcohol and sex education and advice to school students areas of teaching which are essential to prepare students for life outside the classroom. However it is also a resource for the wider community. The staff members who work at the Health Education Library have been involved in important drug and alcohol prevention campaigns, and have assisted countless community organisations with their expertise. We call on you to personally intervene to ensure that DET finds a suitable location for the Health Education Library to continue operating in its former capacity, and we seek a commitment from you that the Health Education Library will reopen and retain an adequate level of staffing.
