Send Fred Phelps to San Francisco for Burial

It has come to our attention over the years that Reverend Fred Waldron Phelps Senior, founder of the Westboro Baptist Church which operates out of Topeka, Kansas, has for years been allowed to preach a most confrontational, insensitive and outright homophobic interpretation of Christianity throught the continental United States.
Reverend Phelps's distorted views not only add to the anguish which is certainly felt by homosexuals in this country in general, but also adds to the stereotyping of Christianity as an intolerant, hateful religion to enemies of the United States foreign and domestic who stand to gain much from such an impartial depiction.
While there have been numerous instances of the WBC's activities since its inception, the following are the most prominent and publically known instances:
1) Members of the WBC picketed the funeral for gay murder victim Matthew Shepard with signs that read among other intolerant messages "No Fags in Heaven" and "God Hates Fags."
2) Phelps- through members of the WBC who also happen to be blood relatives- hosts two website addresses; www.godhatesfags.com and www.godhatesamerica.com. These websites are just more vehicles of propaganda for the WBC's extremist homophobic views.
3) Phelps also celebrated the demise of Swedish vacationers in the unfortunate Tsunami of late 2004 merely because Sweden has a very tolerant and egalitarian view on homosexuality as well as the prosecution of pastor Ake Green over his similarly homophobic sermons.

SEEING as that the continued activities of Phelps and the Westborough Baptist Church will only add to religious and social tensions in this country,
AND SEEING that a prosecution of Phelps will do little if any to end the antisocial activities of the Westborough Baptist Church,
AND SEEING that a violent measure to end such will only make Phelps a martyr for his twisted cause and likely increase membership and the degree of WBC activities,
WE THE UNDERSIGNED appeal to the State of Kansas to consider this following action as a symbolic protest and punishment to Reverend Phelps and the WBC:
As it is general public knowledge that the Reverend Phelps is in declining health and may not have be long in this world, we would wish that the Stae of Kansas- with prior cooperation and arrangement with the City of San Francisco California and if necessary the State of California- upon the confirmed death of Reverend Fred Waldron Phelps Senior, have his mortal remains transferred to the city of San Francisco for his burial.
As San Francisco symbolically everything that Fred Phelps found repulsion and disgust for in life, burying him there would be called Poetic Justice. Whether or not the gay/lesbian/bisexual communities of that city and elsewhere would commit further irony by picketing the Reverend's funeral will be a matter of individual choice, but one can hope the State of Kansas can see the delicious humor in such a bold move.
