On March 31, 2006, the Principal at Shaw Heights Middle School in Westminster, Colorado issued a new dress code that made it against the rules of the school for students to wear clothing that makes a political statement of any kind, camouflage clothing, and banners, flags and bandanas of all types. While this was in response to the immigration debate, the policy makes no differentiation in message intended by the political statement. Instead of openly discussing an issue that was causing tension, the principal decided to unilaterally restrict the freedom of expression of all of the students.
We believe that Americans of ALL AGES deserve the right to express their opinion safely. While violence and discrimination should never be tolerated in a school setting, an outright ban on opinion and showing support and pride in the country where they live is also unacceptable.
Please support the students achieve the following by signing the following petition:
We believe we should have the right to wear our countrys colors and support our troops at Shaw Heights Middle School. We think the Administration has made a mistake in taking these rights away from us, and would like our rights reinstated.

Red and Blue are also gang colors. Pink is associated with girls and maybe cheerleaders. My god, just make them wear no clothes so no one might be offended by something they wear. I would be proud to have my child wear CAMO to show support for our troops.
