Starcraft Character Names

We feel that Blizzard's policy against allowing customers to change character names or create replacement characters in Starcraft II is unnecessarily draconian.

In our haste to play the newly released game, many of us entered random 'disposable' names, so that we could quickly get a taste of the game, thinking we would be able return later and put more thought into a permanent character.

We feel that it is not made sufficiently clear during character set-up that the choice of name is permanent and that it is not at all clear that you may not create additional or even replacement characters.

We have been disappointed to find that we are stuck with what we believed were throwaway nicknames. We feel that the policy regarding this is unfair and that, given their many years experience with gaming and online communities, Blizzard ought to have been able to predict that many users would act as we have when first getting their hands on the long-awaited Starcraft II and could easily have made allowance for this.

We are loyal customers and Starcraft fans who have waited a long time for the release of Starcraft II. We feel that, having waited several years and having paid for the game we should be forgiven the initial haste with which we chose our character names and allowed to change them or at least create new/replacement characters with our preferred names.

We do not wish to be forever stuck with the disappointment, embarrassment or meaninglessness of our original throwaway names. We have paid for the game and only wish to enjoy it fully.
