Steam Powered (owned by Valve) has continued to believe that it is not necessary to offer live support to its users. Steam continues to think that its online support system is enough, however it has become slower and less efficient over time and is inconsiderate to the value of steam user's time.


This system is overloaded with problems that could be resolved in very quick phone calls, instead of days of tickets with unresolved problems. Steam's online support is neglectful and does not read everything inside your ticket. They want to finish as many tickets as fast as possible. If Steam just spent the time to listen and resolve the problem the first time around, it wouldn't take several days to solve a problem.


Right now Steam's support system is setup for its own considerations and does not at all take considerations of the users into account. They make the user sit around and wait for a response that can take days and even then the response may not solve the problem - in which case the user has to submit more information and possibly wait another day for a response - Some problems take weeks to be resolved.


These problems that take weeks to be resolved generally only have a few minutes of text written in the entire ticket. A simple phone call could make it so much easier on the customer. Instead of a problem taking a week to be resolved, it could take 15 minutes, and everyone would be confident that it was resolved. The other solution is incorporating a Live Instant Message support into the Online Support system. This would also work fairly well and would not require them to setup an advanced phone system.
