This petition aims to stop radio stations playing sexually explicit songs when children are likely to be listening.
There is growing concern nationwide regarding the effect the media and entertainment industry are having on our children. Some of you may have heard of the recent Mother’s Union report and government backed plans to clamp down on sexual imagery in music videos and TV scenes. If you listen to the radio you will find many sexually explicit songs, such as Rihanna’s “S & M” and Bruno Mars’ “Lazy Song”.
I have two small children who love singing along to songs. I find it difficult, if not impossible, to keep the radio on in the car when taking the children to/from their after-school activities because of sexually explicit songs. I find myself switching radio stations to avoid certain songs because my 6 and 4 year olds really should not be singing about sex.
Our children need protection. If you believe the same, please sign this petition.
Together we ask radio stations to stop playing sexually explicit songs when children are likely to be listening, such as Monday – Friday from 8 – 9 am and 3 – 7 pm and Saturday and Sunday before 7 pm.
Thank you.
