On the 1.4.2012 the UK’s coalition government had suggested they will extend their current powers to monitor the general public’s email and web use in ‘real time.’
The current Government claims that progressive technology makes this move necessary so as to tackle crime and terrorism; however the government wants to do this without the need to contact a Magistrate/Judge for a warrant, they wish to have access people’s personal information without the need for legal authorization.
This would mean a number of things for the UK:
• The Government would have power to monitor the general public without the need for legal authorization.
• Millions of people would have their web use exposed to the government giving them an accurate account of all sites you access
• Emails made and sent would also be monitored
• Under proposed plans the government will have constant up to date content of all your email and web use including information sent over social networking sites such as facebook.
This is not just a Government issue, it is also human right issue; this is a clear breach of human privacy law, by signing the petition you not only make the Government clear on our viewpoint, you also protect the everyday rights of normal hard working people of which we are all entitled to.
We as a nation have spent so many years earning the rights to live an independent life, so don’t let your Government take it away from you.
