Whereas the headquarters of the SCV is located at Elm Springs in Columbia, TN and
Whereas a flag pole was erected at Elm Springs for the express purpose of flying the Confederate Battle Flag at all times and
Whereas on October 28, 2006 the Confederate Battle Flag was removed from that pole and
Whereas on that same date a Kansas State Flag was raised on that pole and
Whereas this repugnant act was committed by SCV members and
Whereas this repugnant act was permitted by SCV officers and
Whereas those officers include, but may not be limited to, Charles Walthall (the Commander of the Kansas Division) and Ben Sewell (the Executive Director of the SCV) and
Whereas we, the undersigned, believe that said action amounts to treason against the SCV and our Confederate Ancestors and
Whereas that said action cannot be left unpunished and
Whereas our Constitution provides for immediate suspension of a member and
Whereas our Constitution provides for the expulsion of a member after an investigation, properly made charges and a hearing and
Whereas we, the undersigned, feel that such actions against the individuals responsible for the above said action must be taken,
Therefore
We, the undersigned, call for the immediate suspension of Charles Walthall and Ben Sewell and
We, the undersigned, call for an immediate investigation into the matter and
We, the undersigned, call for the suspension of all others implicated as soon as photographic or testimonial evidence of involvement is obtained and
We, the undersigned, call for appropriate charges to be brought against all involved and
We, the undersigned, call for expulsion of all involved to be sought.
