The Fight For Renewable Energy

The persons signing this petition agree that the Standard Offer Program Contracts were unfairly held back along the Lake Huron shore line. The Ministry of Energy in March, 2006 welcomed renewable energy projects with Standard Offer Programs, telling people they would be able to sell energy to the Grid for 11 cents per kWh. Communities and businesses started working together to develop projects that could help solve Ontarios Energy Crisis. The Contracts provided stability for communities and businesses creating economic growth. But, 8 months later in Huron, Bruce, Grey, Perth, Middlesex, Wellington, Lambton and parts of Chatham/Kent the SOCs were postponed. The reasoning behind it being that there is not enough capacity for wind energy because, they may need it in 2012 for the new reactor at Bruce Power. The regions where the standard offer contracts were postponed are surrounding Bruce Power and just happen to be the best regions for wind development in Ontario. It takes millions of our Canadian dollars to repair the ageing reactors. Without the repairs the ageing reactors wouldnt be able to produce in the next 15 years. This would free up enough space for full development for wind projects in this area that are ready to be connected to the grid right now. We The People Of Ontario would like to see you re-evaluate your decisions regarding the S O Cs. WE WANT A GREENER CLEANER WORLD!
