Roxanne Dubois (Vice-President Finance)
Seamus Wolfe (Vice-President University Affairs)
Danika Brisson (Vice-President Student Affairs)
Julie Seguin (Vice-President Communications)
Joel Larose (Vice-President Social Affairs)
and
Seamus Wolfe (President elect)
Roxanne Dubois (Vice-President Finance elect)
Julie Seguin (Vice-President Communications elect)
Jean Guillaume (Vice-President Social Affairs elect)
The grounds for impeachment are the following:
- Failure to uphold the spirit and integrity of the SFUO constitution at an emergency Board of Administration meeting on March 13th, 2009
refusal to act in good faith and cooperate with proceedings of the Student Appeals Committee (SAC) in a respectful manner to both the student arbitrators and the plaintiffs
- Refusal to abstain from a vote in which they were clearly in conflict of interests despite being presented with a speech from a fellow-candidate elect urging them and providing support as to why they could not in good conscience vote either 'yes' or 'no' ethically and fairly in the vote in question. This vote concerned their integrity as executives of the corporation of the SFUO
- Refusal to answer allegations of electoral fraud as individuals despite the allegations being with respect to alleged contravention of slating rules during the campaigns period
- Refusal to act in good faith in answering the concerns of those who brought allegations against them
- The resulting lack of confidence that these actions have created in individual members of the SFUO
We demand that students be able to directly determine the of the SFUO through a referendum as per section 4.17 of the SFUO constitution, and that a referendum question concerning each individual executive and executive - elect be asked as per clause 4.17.3.1.4 of the SFUO constitution as follows:
Should Dean Haldenby cease to occupy the position of President of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa?
Should Seamus Wolfe cease to occupy the position of Vice-President University Affairs of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa?
Should Danika Brisson cease to occupy the position of Vice-President of Student Affairs of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa?
Should Joel Larose cease to occupy the position of Vice-President Social of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa?
Should Julie Seguin cease to occupy the position of Vice-President of Communications of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa?
Should Roxanne Dubois cease to occupy the position of Vice-President Finance of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa?
Further, in regards to the executives-elect; while we, the undersigned recognize that they are not yet ratified as executives by the Board of Administration, as it would be impossible to hold an election between their ratification and the beginning of their mandate (May 1st, 2009) and the beginning of the Fall academic session in September 2009, which would constitute one third of their mandate being served before the referendum could be held, we demand that the spirit of the constitution be respected in allowing a referendum regarding each of these candidates be included at the same time in order for the SFUO to take a proactive, rather than reactive stance when it faces accusations of unethical behaviour. We ask that following the same clause listed above, and respecting the spirit and intent of this clause, the referendum questions be modified to the following when concerning candidates-elect:
Should Roxanne Dubois not be permitted to begin her mandate for the 2009-2010 academic year on May 1st in the position of Vice-President Finance of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa?
Should Seamus Wolfe not be permitted to begin his mandate for the 2009-2010 academic year on May 1st in the position of President of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa?
Should Julie Sйguin not be permitted to begin her mandate for the 2009-2010 academic year on May 1st in the position of Vice-President of Communications of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa?
Should Jean Guillaume not be permitted to begin his mandate for the 2009-2010 academic year on May 1st in the position of Vice-President Social of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa?
We ask the above as members of the SFUO in good standing, and in good faith with our student leaders to protect the rights and promote the welfare of all students at the University of Ottawa. We trust that this petition will result in serious consideration of the roles and actions of members of the executive and an immediate response from the Board of Administration by putting this referendum question before students before the end of the mandate of the current SFUO executive.
