The Key to our Environmental Future

Climate Change is a global problem as is the solution and without the United States' ratification of the Kyoto Protocol the world will continue to succumb to this worldwide catastrophe. We have already seen the harmful nature of Global Warming in the recent disasters that were brought by Hurricanes Rita and Katrina. The United States needs to be proactive, as they have in the past, on issues related to the environment.
The Kyoto Protocol is an historic milestone. It is the first, and only, binding international agreement that sets targets to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change.
Studies show that implementing the Kyoto Protocol would stimulate the hi-tech and construction industries, create jobs, reduce health-care costs from air pollution, and help protect our ecosystems. Technologies and policies, available now, are already being used by some far-sighted industries to affordably reduce emissions even more rapidly than the Protocol requires.
In conclusion, the United States of America needs to be the strong country they have been in the past and this needs to be done by signing an agreement that is and will continue to lead the world in the right directions.
