The loss of a teacher and band

I am a Greenfield Middle School student. Me and my fellow band students were shocked to hear what the band teacher, Mrs. Hanson had to say on April 14th. The school board of Greenfield is cutting her off her job of what she enjoys doing very much: teaching music to kids who really want to learn. Not only did the board want to take Mrs. Hanson away from what she loves but they also wanted to change our band schedule from the way we want and prefer it to be. This is not right. Now we will have no lessons together as a whole band. We will not sound as good as we should for a seventh grade level. We will go back down to sixth grade level band. Seventh graders at GMS would like a say in this and speak out for whats right. If this happens with the schedule it will be very hard to learn and get better. We will have to work harder than we already have been as a whole band. We always tell eachother that band is a family and we will never give up. Therefore Mrs. Hanson is part of the family and deserves to stay with us at GMS where she belongs. They are taking her dream away and no one has the right to do that. Please help us by signing this petition, we won't give up. We really care about band and Mrs. Hanson, we need them both! Thank you.

Since it was my first year at GMS, learning how to play an instrument was one of the hardest things for me to do. Mrs. Hansen was an excellent teacher and I really hate to see her leave. I really enjoy band, it was really fun.
