University for Waterford and the South East

Waterford, and the South-East in general, has for many years been unable to attract significant Industrial development, unlike Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and their respective regions.

This government and its predecessors, have exhibited a significant blind spot in regards to the requirements of the South-East region and its inhabitants. This is true for all aspects of our health, employment and infra-structural needs.

Successive Ministers have failed in their responsibilities towards us.

If you are unwilling, or unable, to address the issues that we face here in the South-East, then at least give us something through which we can help ourselves.

The elevation of Waterford Institute of Technology to University status would represent a major benefit to the South-East in its attractiveness to business and industrial investment. Just as UCD, DCU, UCC, UL and UCG, to name just a few, have been to their respective regions. We demand the right to compete fairly for whatever development is available and not to be further hamstrung by the lack of appropriate educational status in doing so.
