1. New Jersey has NO state Veterinary School.
2. The legislature in 1971 enacted the Veterinary Medical Education Act to authorize New Jersey Seats at selected Veterinary Schools for New Jersey Residents.
3. New Jersey has a Dairy Production industry which needs Veterinarians for an industry that remains a vital part of New Jersey Agriculture.
4. Veterinarians will provide valuable research in the future for diseases that will affect human health and disease.
5. New Jersey needs a source of well trained Veterinarians for the future care of large and small animals.
6. Veterinary Colleges will not reduce the tuition of New Jersey Students unless the Veterinary Medical Education Act of 1971 is fully funded.
7. The legislature had enacted the Veterinary Medical Education Act of 1971 as an alternative to starting a costly Veterinary School in New Jersey. The New Jersey seats were to be awarded to New Jersey students and supplemented by the legislature to compensate for the lack of a State supported school.
