Chicago Police Must Not Be Armed with the Colt M4 Assault Rifle
Major Richard M. Daley and the Superintendent of Police, Jody Weis, are trying to equip Chicago police officers with M4 assault rifles. We, the people of Chicago, and our allies around the nation and world, need for Colt M4 assault rifles to not be in police hands and are against the militarization of the Chicago Police Department, our youth, and our low-income communities of color. We submit this petition to Major Richard M. Daley, Superintendent of Police Jody Weis, President of the Chicago Police Board Demetrius B. Carney and Alderman Isaac Carothers to demand a public meeting and their full support to prevent this proposal. We will continue our nonviolent direct action campaign to stop the purchase of these weapons and hold public funding and policy accountable for priorities like education, youth programs, jobs, and other human rights for all!

we don't need the police to have more weapons that end up being used against the people they are SUPPOSED to protect. I don't believe that we even need to rely on the police because they are consistently criminalizing communities of color and poor people
