We feel that these activities have the potential to generate a chain of anti-semitic, anti-palestinian, and Islamophobic activities on our campus, and would like to do our part to prevent this by taking the higher moral ground. We believe the solution is less division and less occupation, and more unity and mutual understanding.
To make matters worse, CUSA has utterly failed to control the display, recognizing that the display broke several of CUSA policies. The space was booked under CUSA and on CUSA side of the Atrium, therefore we give full responsibility to CUSA for failing to intervene.
CUSA's policy of displays includes a strict no-blood and no political or images of people suffering, which was the main course of the display that took place.
Brittany Smyth, this year's CUSA VP and next year's President, attended the display and did not act to enforce CUSA policies. Other clubs, specifically Muslim and Palestinian, have received warnings for any images displayed or questionable content. Our petition is to show anger at CUSA's preferential treatment and failure to stop this offending display that could only increase more divisions on campus.
Please sign the petition if you are for a fair and equitable CUSA, and if you are against the display of April 3rd, 2008.
