There's an epidemic on our public roads of automobile operators using hand held cell phones. These drivers present not only a risk to themselves through decreased attentiveness, but a substantial safety risk to all vehicles and pedestrians within their general proximities. It's our contention that laws need to be drafted and aggressively enforced which acknowledge this type of driving hazard and unconditionally prohibit hand held cell phone use by any private vehicle operator. To that end, and in an effort to safeguard all citizens that frequent public roads (whether by foot, bicycle, motorcycle, automobile or otherwise), we ask our local and state representatives to assert the public's will and establish laws to address this crisis upon prompt receipt of the people's petition.
