Demand that the $1 Million Reward for POW Captain M. Scott Speicher Remain in Place

I/WE, the undersigned have freely set our hand to this petition on the date stated to demand that the government of the United States of America, elected and appointed officials, uphold the will of the both the House and Senate when they requested the cooperation of the Secretary of Defense in returning POW Captain Speicher to the United States. Congress did so by stating within the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2004 "encourage the Secretary to authorize and publicize a reward of $1 million for information resolving the fate of those military personnel, such as Michael Scott Speicher, who the Secretary has reason to believe may yet be alive in captivity."

The honorable Secretary Rumsfeld has recently stated that the reward for information resolving the fate of Captain Michael Scott Speicher will be discontinued. We demand that the reward money for Captain Speicher continue to be offered and be vigorously advertised in Iraq and any other indicated country until Captain Speicher is returned to the United States.

We expect that the military and the government of the United States of America will not tire, will not falter and will not fail in returning Captain Speicher to the United States of America, where he belongs.
