We the undersigned, parents/caregivers, staff, and community members of Ithaca City School District resolve to maintain the current integrity, continuity, and creativity of art and music instruction for all our children despite the budget reductions that have affected the staffing allocation (FTEs) and supplies for the 2010-2011 school year.
We believe that the proposed music and art specialist schedule for the 2010-11 school year will decimate the excellent programs our children deserve.
The plan includes less direct instruction time, limits planning, eliminates collaboration of integrating the arts into core curriculum, and reduces preparation and clean up time.
Please meet with the stakeholders and specialist teachers to develop an agreed upon schedule that is equitable and educationally sound for all the elementary students in the Ithaca City School District.
