The original Dublin Metro North had the ability to carry between 17,000 and 20,000 people per hour has planning permission until 2021. With Dublin Airport now carrying 19% more travellers per year than at the Peak of the our Economy in 2008, and continuing to grow 11.4% per annum; and Fingal growing 8% between the last two censuses (the fastest growing County in Ireland), it is unacceptable for Shane Ross to allow the Metro North Scheme to be revised, by reducing capacity by 30-40% to 12,000 people per hour in order to save under 20% of the original expected cost. €190million was lost immediately by deciding to reconsider this infrastructure project which is of National Importance.
