Lowering the Drinking age to 18

I along with many other Americans believe that the drinking age being set at the age of 21 is too high; it should be lowered to 18.
Firstly, why can an American be able to vote, enter the army, and be considered an adult at the age of 18, yet not be able to have a sip of alcohol?
Many believe that teenagers drink and drive and this is why the age limit should be at 21, even though there are accidents related to drunk driving. Most of the time speeding is what causes accidents, not drunk driving. People under 21 also use better driving techniques such as the Designated Driver System.
Having legal age for drinking at 21 will not affect underage drinking either, there are many ways to obtain alcohol without being of legal age. So what is the point of having it so high? In other countries, such as the Netherlands, the drinking age is 16, and they dont seem to have too much of a problem with drunk driving or any other things that make us believe the legal drinking age should be 21. Also in countries where children are allowed to drink such as in Italy dont have drinking problems because they grow up viewing alcohol as a thing used only for special occasions and they consume it in appropriate proportions.
