MA-rating on FanFiction.Net

This is the motto of FanFiction.Net, the site where we all love to read and post fanfiction.





Unfortunately FanFiction.net decided to no longer accept explicit content in fanfiction, therefore the rating MA is listet for reference only. The reason for this is that there have been complaints issued by readers. There are large numbers of writers and readers alike wishing for the continuation of explicit contents fanfiction on FanFiction.Net. The limitation has caused many a writer to abandon the site already, much to the dismay of readers who followed said writers to other fanfiction sites.





We regard this approach as a breach of "Freedom of Speech" and a discrimation towards a part of the users of FanFiction.Net! No party shall be hindered to write or read the literature of their liking; imagination shall not be restricted but unleashed as FanFiction.Net herself advertises!





We cannot understand the motivation behind complaints issued against certain stories or the reaction of FanFiction.Net, as the rating allows everybody to choose stories according to their taste and none shall be forbidden, be it rating K or rating MA. It is the responsibility of every reader to decide if they are of the mind to read MA-rated fanfiction. If all readers would issue complaints against stories offending their taste the site would soon be freed of all literature!





The writers of M-rated fanfiction have to deal now with this injustice, as their stories are subject to sheer arbitrary judgement if they are violating the rules of FanFiction.Net by posting a story with content within the boundaries or above the M-rating. There are no explicit regulations, where explicit description would be needed, for us to know what wording oversteps the boundaries of M-rating.





Failure to comply with site rules will result in the removal of stories and/or removal of account.





Such is the statement of FanFiction.Net. With this threat lurking behind every word we are writing there is no possibility to "unleash your imagination and free your soul!". Many of us already suffered removal of our stories which have been the result of many days work. We demand the right to express ourselves freely, which is even stated as human right in the constitution.





Shall bigotry set the rules on FanFiction.Net instead of freedom of speech?





We say nay to the banning of MA-rating on FanFiction.Net and demand that all ratings be enabled to allow us to unleash our imagination and free our soul!
