of the land, and of New Zealand's constitutional framework, having
nationally recognised and easily citable legislation that enshrines
our rights as citizens and permanent residents of Aotearoa/New
Zealand, and the responsibilities of the NZ Government is of the
utmost importance.
To ensure that civil liberties, our human rights, the Treaty of
Waitangi as well as the role of Government are not eroded by internal
or external influences, or destabilising acts, concerned citizens, law
enforcement and branches of Government must have an understanding
beyond common law of our rights and responsibilities.
We, the undersigned, call on the Government of New Zealand to permit a binding referendum asking New Zealanders whether or not they think that a
nationally recognised Constitution should exist.
