We, the undersigned, are shocked at the recent decision to impose a new flag upon the people of Iraq.
Despite the deteriorating situation in Iraq, the mere discussion, let alone implementation, of a new Iraqi flag should be flagged with the lowest of importance.
Furthermore, the power of the Iraqi Governing Council falls short of being able to impose such drastic changes, as they are not democratically elected representatives of Iraq.
Such drastic changes can be compared to modifications added by Saddam Hussein to the previous flag both modifications were done without the consent of the people of Iraq.
The New Iraqi Flag is bland, misrepresentative and designed without soul.
We, the undersigned, ask for the decision to be reversed until a democratically elected government body is in place.
Until such a time, we will not recognize any flag, whether beautiful or as poorly designed as the new one, to represent us.
