Do you think there are now too many bars in the Northern Quarter? Or that there are too many with late licenses to sell alcohol?
Do you share our concern about the resultant cumulative impact if the current practise of approving all applications continues unabated?
Within the current Licensing Policy of Manchester City Council, they can call a meeting to discuss the enforcement of Cumulative Special Impact Policy, that effectively reduces the likelihood of further licenses being granted until the impact has been brought under control.
It doesn’t prevent a business from obtaining a license if they can prove they are providing an offering that will promote the licensing objectives, but it will arrest the growth in venues that simply sell alcohol.
We would like the Council to call that meeting as soon as possible, to prevent the situation getting any worse, until proper arrangements can be put in place to balance the needs of the night-time economy and the local residential population.
We ask you to support that proposal by signing the petition below, please indicate if you live in the Northern Quarter.
