Petition seeking recognition of KONKNNI

We, the undersigned citizens of Goa State, users of KONKNNI in ROMAN SCRIPT,
crave your Excellency's indulgence and seek your Excellency's kind favourable initiatives, to grant recognition to KONKNNI, in ROMAN SCRIPT, also side by side with KONKNNI, in Devanagiri Script, which stands recognised as the Official Language of the State of Goa.

The difference is only in the SCRIPT, and not in the LANGUAGE. There exists
enormous literature and work of Scholars in KONKNNI language, but in ROMAN
SCRIPT.

As a remarkable contribution to ROMAN SCRIPT KONKNNI, the world famous Khel
Teatr of Goa, exclusively produced, rehearsed, and presented to people, can be cited and claimed.

The origin of KONKNNI in ROMAN SCRIPT dates back to 6th SEPTEMBER 1556
when KONKNNI in ROMAN SCRIPT was first presented at the then College of
St. Paul at Old Goa (only the PORTAL of the then famous College now exists
as a remnant of a HERITAGE MONUMENT, as such proclaimed on the ASI's Boards
installed in front of the Portal for information of tourists and local people, particularly for the new generation). It is remarkable that the FIRST PRINTING PRESS heralded KONKNNI in ROMAN SCRIPT. The first book in KONKNNI in ROMAN SCRIPT, DOUDRINA CRISTA, was published between 1556 and 1561. Such is the HERITAGE of KONKNNI in ROMAN SCRIPT, Sir.

European Missionaries had produced the ROMAN SCRIPT, for the purpose of
communicating with people of Goa then. The Goa Church Scriptures, Prayers, and Rites are in KONKNNI language but EXCLUSIVELY in ROMAN SCRIPT.

Census 1991 had disclosed 29.86\% Christians in the State of Goa, and we can
unhesitatingly claim that the 29.86\% of the population in Goa State used,
and are using KONKNNI in ROMAN SCRIPT, which brings the 29.86\% Christians
under the purview of the PROVISION of Article 347 of the Constitution of
India: "...a substantial proportion of the population of a State desire
the use of language spoken by them to be recognised...."

Your Excellency, therefore there exists incontrovertible evidence of widespread use of KONKNNI in ROMAN SCRIPT by 29.86\% or more of the population of Goa State.

Sir, please satisfy the legitimate aspirations of this large "proportion
of the population in the State of Goa", and Goans living outside Goa,
all over the world, as contemplated in the Article 347 of the Constitution
of India.
