Petition to allow for Recall of Senators and Reps in North Carolina

Background (Preamble):
The State of North Carolina does not permit for a recall of state county and local officials as is allowed in 18 other states. Instead it permits the procedure of "impeachment", which requires charges to be brought by the House and heard in the Senate, who then plays the role of judge and jury. This procedure presumes that the will of the House and Senate represents the will of the people which it rarely if ever does.
The process of recall would allow residents of the state of North Carolina to remove those officials whom they deem to be incompetent or representing something other than their best interests. Breaking the law would no longer be their chief fear for removal from office, breaking their promises to their constituents, or catering to special interest or simply not being up to the job they were elected to do would become their chief concern and hopefully a motivating factor in their performance in office.

We, the undersigned, ask the State of North Carolina to adopt the procedure of recall in place of the procedure of impeachment.
