We need 200 signatures under Point 10 of the Union's Constitution to request a General Meeting and vote upon an issue presented at the (requested) General Meeting.
****Imperial College London students request a black tie/formal dress code to be defined for their Summer Ball.****
Petition argument:
Imperial College Londons Summer Ball has traditionally been an annual end-of-year event where all Imperial College students (not just your club/society members) have turned up for the best evening that (traditionally) kicked off with a dinner and continued throughout the night with entertainment, dancing, DJ sets and live acts for everyone. This year, we have seen a lot of changes and there are some we generally do not agree with. We would like the Summer Ball to be a black tie/formal dress code event(and this should be advertised accordingly to other Universities). As London-based students, we are more than aware that it would be ludicrous (and boring and tiresome at the same time) to try and enforce a black tie throughout the night. We want to have fun and we want to dress up for it!
Also, we feel that the Imperial College Summer Ball is not prioritising Imperial College Students and would like to request that tickets for the afterparty be sold to Imperial College students only (at least online before the day of the Summer Ball). Other Uni students are welcome to buy tickets if there are leftover ones on the door.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
