1. First nation people were hired to do these jobs and people were induced to accept wages lower than they would have accepted because of assurances from the employer that their income was not subject to Income Tax. The employer deliberately mislead or was careless in saying that these positions were not subject to income tax. Also some employees were not informed at all that they would no longer be tax exempt and that their payroll was tendered out.
2. We the employees/spouses recieved Notice of Reassessments for 2010 and 2011 Taxation years.
3. Employees owing to Revenue Canada ranges from $500.00 to $83,000.00.
4. These Revenue Canada statements our of NO FAULT of the employees that worked for these Companies: Lower Mattagami Project, Work North, 534209 Ontario Limited (C & S).
5. Most spouses/children were affected by these reassessments ie. Child Tax, GST, Trillium etc...
6. The following band members impacted by this are: Moose Cree First Nation, Fort Albany First Nation, Kashechewan First Nation and Attawapiskat First Nation.
