This petition is on behalf of Joel Almeida-Gonzalez A#: A097701844, Erik Almeida-Gonzalez A#:A201102749, Alberto Vera-Ramirez A#: A201102751, Carlos Tirado-Carmona A#: A201102748, Byron Tzoc Guarchaj A#: A201102750. They are currently at the Seneca County Jail (3040 South State Route 100, Tiffin, Ohio 44883). They were detained en-route to Chicago. These young men are very hardworking and honest people who live in New York City. In whatever free time they might have they do Aztec dancing for communities throughout the United States. This is exactly what they were on their way to do. These men have been preserving the cultural tradition of millions in this country for more than 10 years each. They are from two very grounded Aztec Dance groups in New York, Atl-Tlachinolli and Tletlpapalotzin. These groups have very essential yearly community performances coming this month thru next month during this honored and culminating Day of the Dead season. Their performances have been held at well respected institutions like the New York Public Library, the Museum of the American Indian, El Museo del Barrio, and the Queens Museum of Art.
We plead to you in assisting with their release as soon as possible. These men have families with children that need them, as well as the rest of the community who needs and is pained by their detention.
