Safer Neighborhoods/More Law Enforcement

An increase in police presence in high crime rated neighborhoods in New York City has proven to be effective in decreasing crime. Since the founding of the CompStat (A special police unit that keeps a database of where most crimes occur and then sends additional officers to the neighborhoods rated to crack down on specific crime), crime has dramatically decreased in the city. Police presence in certain neighborhoods has decreased crime, but over the past three years, the number of newly police recruits has decreased. That number should increase to ensure the city stays safe and to keep CompStat running with its potential in decreasing crime with the help of the citys bravest. The objective of this petition is to ensure our city stays clean of crime by increasing the number of newly recruits this year. Signing this petition will put us a step closer in ensuring our city stays clean of crime and violence now and in the future.
