Le nom avenue du Parc est riche en traditions historiques et fait parti de l'hйritage de Montrйal. Le nom remonte а 1883 et fait parti de l'histoire de plusieurs communautйs immigrйes de Montrйal. M. Bourassa n'йtait pas un politicien municipal, et la ville de Quйbec a dйjа йrigйe une statue de M. Bourassa et projette renommer une route provinciale а sa mйmoire. Si - aprиs consultations! - les habitants de Montrйal dйsirent en plus renommer un site historique, nous suggйrons une nouvelle route, bвtiment, ou carrй, au moins un site avec moins d'importance historique que l'avenue du Parc !
We, the Undersigned, oppose the renaming of Montreal's Park Avenue to Robert Bourassa Avenue without public consultation. The name Park Avenue is rich in historical lore and a part of Montreal heritage. The name dates back to 1883 and is part of the history of several of Montreal's immigrant communities. Robert Bourassa was a provincial - not a municipal - politician, and Quebec City has already erected a statue of him and is planning to rename a provincial highway in his memory. If - after consultation! - the people of Montreal desire in addition to rename a local landmark, let it be a new road, building or square, or one with less historical resonance than Park Avenue!
