Stop the demolition of Mother Redcaps

Mother Redcaps Tavern is a traditional old Dublin pub, situated near Christchurch Cathedral. Furnished in wood, it has a unique charm and a warm and friendly atmosphere. In addition to serving the local community for many years, the pub has a great tradition of live music, promoting both local and international acts.

The Planning Department of Dublin City Council have recently granted permission for the demolition of Mother Redcaps and the building of yet another high-rise apartment complex.

The signatories of this petition wish to express their objection to this development. While the applicants may have conformed to the Council's requirements with respect to advertising the application, we feel that little or no effort was really made to bring this to the attention of the general public. Awareness is only now growing in the aftermath of the permission being granted. We ask the Council to listen to the people of Dublin and rescind it's original decision. It would be a great shame to allow another landmark of the city to be trampled under the feet of our property developers.
