We the undersigned petition the Home Secretary to bring forward fast track legislation which would allow for those convicted of crimes against property and violence to be given a sentence of 'restitutional community service. That service would be to work on schemes to repair our infrastructure (such as road pot holes) improve our public spaces, and to allow local authorities the scope to carry on programmes that otherwise would be cut. Those convicted would be set to work to address those public works which are being ceased or face being ceased due to austerity measures in a service to society which puts right the damage they have recently done.
