Subjest: Working to Reform Marijuana Laws
Our country's war on drugs places great emphasis on arresting people for smoking marijuana. Since 1990, nearly 5.9 million Americans have been arrested on marijuana charges. This is a greater number than the entire populations of Alaska, Deleware, the District of Columbia, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming combined. 88\% of those arrested were for simple possession charges. New FBI statistics indicate that one marijuana smoker is arrested every 45 seconds in America. This is an outrage. Like most Americans, people who smoke marijuana also pay taxes, love and support their families, and work hard to make a better life for their children. Responsible marijuana smokers are not the problem and it is time to stop arresting them. This is a "call to arms." Let your signature on this petition symbolize the need to reform current marijuana laws in your state and show unity through desire, perseverence and determination. Pass this on if you feel someone you know shares the same views as us. There is nothing more dangerous than an informed individual.
