4-Way Stop Greenwood Manor/Destrehan

This petition is for the posting of a 4-way stop at the corner of Destrehan and Greenwood Manor in the Coles Crossing Subdivision in Cypress, TX. This intersection currently has a 2-way stop and is very dangerous. There are near misses at this intersection daily. On April 6, 2007, an accident occurred at this intersection resulting in one of the vehicles ending up in the yard of my residence at 13734 Greenwood Manor. Had this accident taken place 2 hours earlier, my two children who were playing in the yard would have been killed.

Despite numerous requests of the city and Cole's Crossing HOA to place a 4-way stop at this intersection, there has been no action other than placing traffic counting strips at the intersection to monitor traffic. The inaction of the city to place a 4-way stop has been blamed on "not enough traffic to warrant a stop sign". That does not speak to safety of the "limited" traffic in the area.

I am filing this petition because I cannot wait until someone gets killed at this intersection before the city will deem it unsafe enough to put up a 4-way stop. I ask that you join me in making this intersection safer.

With this petition, we respectfully ask the city of Cypress, Harris County, TX to replace the current 2-way stop at the intersection of Greenwood Manor and Destrehan with a 4-way stop.
