A Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for the actress Hannah Gordon.

We the undersigned request that the film, television and theatre actress Hannah Gordon is made a Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Hannah Gordon was born on 9th April 1941 and is another household favourite with a list of film and television credits to her name. She is perhaps best remembered on television for playing Lady Virginia Bellamy in Upstairs Downstairs and was the female lead in the British sitcom, My Wife Next Door, opposite John Alderton. She has also made many guest appearances in lots of different programmes over the years e.g The Morecambe and Wise Show, Midsomer Murders and was the character in One Foot in the Grave who knocked down and killed Victor Meldrew. Her film appearances were in The Elephant Man, Spring and Port Wine and was the voice of Hyzenthlay in Watership Down. What ever role Hannah plays, she always gives consistent performances but doesn't win any awards at all. Hannah has also never received any official recognition whatsoever during her career and we feel it is time she did.
